Barn2Door is a Seattle-based food+tech startup that helps local farms sell direct to buyers through all digital channels, including web, social and mobile. We exist to empower farmers who care about our planet.

In this role as a Software Engineer I, you’ll roll-up your sleeves working on projects that will directly expand and impact our core software capabilities and functions. You will ship code to production and gain valuable experience across the entire software stack. With your strong problem solving skills and innate curiosity, you’ll collaborate with the team to creatively improve customer adoption, simplicity and ease of use. You’ll work alongside a cross-functional team and gain valuable exposure to the entire business, enabling you to contribute more effectively with a holistic understanding of the customer, domain and problem set. You should thrive in fast-paced environment, be comfortable working with multiple business and technical stakeholders, and interested in local and sustainable food.

You Are

  • A highly motivated, focused self-starter (this isn’t a theory it’s a must)

  • Tech-savvy - have used online tools / solutions to manage workflow and / or productivity

  • Process oriented - able to follow and track protocol, a superstar at following up

  • Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment

You Have

  • BS in Computer Science

  • Experience with an object oriented language like Java, C++, Ruby, Python, etc.

  • Desired experience or familiarity with Node.js, Storybook.js, HTML, CSS, React, Javascript, PostgreSQL, Heroku, and Atlassian

  • Working knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

  • Desire to work in a startup environment, comfortable in ambiguous situations

  • The ability to work independently

  • Strong communication skills and ability to express ideas to business leaders

You Will

  • Be paired with another developer on the team and be indoctrinated into the product areas they manage

  • Ship code your first week- we expect you to contribute in meaningful ways to the product, through execution and innovation

  • Participate in weekly product reviews, engineering and code reviews, and customer-assessment and optimizations (to identify areas for improvement)

  • Demonstrate your proficiency and take ownership of areas of the product, to build, develop and complete projects (to production).

  • Gain valuable mentorship in a startup from founders who’ve done it before
